I would like to consider my closet one of my personal joys – color coded and organized (most days). Margaret of Margaret Batting Image Communications has joined us today to continue her “Mondays with Margaret” series on looking fabulous at every possible opportunity by … Continue reading
Decorating chicly on a low budget? It sounds like an oxymoron. Students and young professionals often don’t have the funds to buy elaborate or expensive home accents for their dorm rooms or apartments. Yet, this simple fact should not deter … Continue reading
We all have those days in our week. The ones where we don’t want to get out of bed or make a huge effort to our appearance because we are feeling tired, lazy, or a bit of both. Margaret of Margaret Batting Image Communications has joined us today to continue her “Mondays with Margaret” series. Her guidelines today are focused on the importance of dressing for a less formal occasion without losing your overall sense of togetherness.
Casual or Casualty?
There’s nothing wrong with dressing casually, especially when you’re on vacation. But wearing your pajama pants to your favorite café is not the best way to demonstrate your casual style to the world. You never know whom you might run into!
I get that we all need down time. But it’s worth it to think about the way you represent yourself when you’re not in the office. People can tell a lot about you by the way you dress. When you look good, you feel good. And who doesn’t want to feel their absolute best? Just think about the times you have looked at someone waiting in line and thought; WOW that person looks great.
Here are some tips to help prevent your casual style from turning into a casualty:
1. As you’re getting dressed in the morning, take a minute to think about what your outfit really says about you. Our clothes tell a story so make sure it is the one you intend.
2. Jeans are the weekend uniform for most. Select a style that fits and flatters your body shape and size. Darker jeans help slenderize especially if you are carrying extra weight. There are so many styles to choose from there is no excuse for not finding the one that is right for you!
3. No need to put on make up but a tinted moisturizer and colored lip gloss can do wonders for a tired face.
4. Make your hair look presentable. Pull it back in a ponytail or wet it to eliminate the bed head look. Even if it IS the weekend you don’t want to look like you just rolled out of bed when you are in public.
Follow these straightforward rules, and you are ready to be casually chic yet comfortable and not a style casualty.
